Smart Buildings auf dem Vormarsch: Sensorberg digitalisiert über eine halbe Million Quadratmeter

Berlin, September 11, 2019 – Owners, project developers and operators in the D-A-CH region are increasingly relying on smart technologies in their properties and areas. The Berlin-based PropTech company Sensorberg alone, a developer of hardware and software for the digitalization and automation of buildings, has digitized more than half a million square meters of space in the past two and a half years. The technology of the future is currently being used primarily in coworking spaces, commercial properties and residential buildings. The infrastructure installed by Sensorberg can digitally map numerous processes, including access to buildings and individual areas, room-booking, controlling room temperature, lighting or blinds, opening lockers and using elevators. Every month, well over 100,000 digitally controlled door openings are carried out in the buildings equipped by the tech company to date. This does not include the use of the approximately 2,800 storage boxes, lockers and elevators that Sensorberg has digitized.

Michael von Roeder, CEO of Sensorberg, says: "The digitalization of real estate is becoming increasingly important in many respects: in order to significantly reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions through targeted digital control, but above all to offer users a modern and individualized working environment in which they can concentrate on the essentials. Especially in the office segment, the pressure to equip real estate digitally is increasingly coming from tenants. For them, for example, digitally controllable building access or service offers such as parcel boxes operated via smartphones are becoming decisive criteria in the recruitment of new employees."

Sensorberg's more than 40 customers include companies such as Bauwens, SAP, Unicorn, MyBox and Factory. The PropTech technology, which can be used in almost all new and existing buildings, has already been installed in more than 50 properties. The properties are located in cities such as Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Münster, Vienna, Geneva, Zurich and Bern.

The Berlin-based PropTech provides owners and operators not only with the hardware but also with the appropriate software. Via an open control platform, which can be flexibly extended at any time, all systems in the building - including those of third parties - can be connected to each other and data-driven analyses can be carried out in real-time, which can be used, for example, to optimize control and capacity utilization. For users, Sensorberg also offers an app that allows them to easily operate the individual Smart Office and Smart Home elements - even without Internet access.
